23T - Week 4 - RSS

#8 - I added the Google Reader to my igoogle page. I never really knew that it existed prior to this exercise. I knew what an RSS feed was, but I always felt like I didn't need to use it. Or, I guess I always felt like I wasn't "techie" enough to have use for it. I started going through my bookmarked blogs (blogs that I visit frequently) and adding them to my new RSS feed on Google and I was surprised to see how many I view and also how useful the RSS feed is! Now I can check all of my favorite blogs all at one time without having to click from site to site. I guess I really am "techie"!

#9 - Regarding the search tools, I liked BlogPulse's Conversation Tracker. It was easy to use and gave results from a variety of blogs. I found Technorati to be sort of cluttery and not as easy to use as BlogPulse. Searching through the blogs for a few good library ones, I found Bright Ideas which seemed like a good source for TLs who need ideas about integrating Web 2.0 into their libraries (and who doesn't, right?). I also found some fun library blogs, The WebFooted Booklady and The Daring Librarian. The blogs are fun but still have a wealth of information.
